NEMIS Technologies takes next growth step

NEMISTechnologies develops rapid tests for the simple and reliable detection of pathogens. They are used in the food industry. The industry uses the tests to check that the equipment in its production halls is free from bacteria and other pathogens. Hygiene is particularly important in the food industry to ensure that only flawless food reaches the end customer.

Four rapid tests from NEMIS Technologies are now on the market. “Our tests can detect pathogens such as salmonella, E. coli bacteria and listeria twice as quickly,” reports CEO Mario Hupfeld. Founded in 2018, the start-up has been based in Riedhofstrasse in Au since the beginning of the year. Salmonella, e-coli bacteria and listeria are among the most common pathogens in the food sector. They mainly cause diarrhoea and fever, but can even lead to death in immunocompromised people.

To date, NEMISTechnologies has mainly sold its rapid tests in Europe. “We now want to take the next step,” reveals Hupfeld. To this end, the product range is to be expanded by two tests and production is to be more automated. “Automating production reduces costs, which means that companies can test more frequently and we can offer our tests even better in new markets.” In addition to expanding its customer base in Europe, NEMIS also has its sights set on Asia.

The startup launched a new financing round in autumn 2023 for this next growth step. “Our existing investors are behind this further development of our business model and have provided us with the necessary funding,” says Hupfeld. “Now we are looking for strategic partners to grow further.”
